We all know how music refreshes our mind. It has become an integral part of our daily life. But if we speak specifically about a live concert, it is on a different level altogether. It is also a way for organisations to raise awareness about social causes that need attention. This month, 100 Pipers #PlayForACause initiative will see the British rock band The Dire Straits Experience perform live for the first time in India. Through this, the band will support the cause to provide sustainable drinking water to villagers in Rajasthan.
Dire Straits was a British rock band formed by vocalist and guitarist Mark Knopfler and his brother David Knopfler, John Illsley and Pick Withers. Combining influences from country, blues, R & B and more the group achieved fame in the music scene of the late 70’s with a unique rock sound that took them to stardom in the mid-80’s.
The British rock band is performing live on 17th March and 19th March in Gurgaon and Bengaluru, respectively. The Dire Straits Experience shows in India will feature its original band members Chris White (saxophone, percussion and vocals), Chris Whitten (drums) and Terence Reis (lead vocals and guitar). Speaking about their first journey to India, band member Chris White said, “India has always been on our list, and we are delighted to play in India. Our two-city tour in India, In Gurgaon and Bangalore, the power of Music is unbelievable, and it brings people together beyond nations and cultures. We are pleased to become a part of this grand event which is bringing music and artists together to make an exception to society.”
The 100 Pipers ‘Play for a Cause’ has been committed to making an exception to the society for years now. Advit Foundation, an NGO working towards Environmental Resource Conservation and Livelihood Enhancement, will be executing this water project on behalf of the brand post the event.
So what are you waiting for? Grab your passes now and be a part of this noble cause.
